Pops Upkeep, founded in 2018, is a New York City-based company dedicated to providing reliable property maintenance services and a comprehensive solution for managing tenant complaints. Birthed from a desire to solve the widespread issue of poorly maintained buildings and the disconnect between tenants and maintenance staff, Pops Upkeep is on a mission to alleviate the stress of property management.

 

Our founder, Tarik Meertins, leveraging his high attention to detail and in-depth understanding of systems building and operations, drew inspiration from his previous venture, Mom's Standard—a high-quality residential cleaning service. The vision for Pops Upkeep was shaped by noticing the poor state of many buildings that Mom's Standard serviced.

 

Since its inception, Pops Upkeep has grown to offer a range of services, including general cleaning, maintenance, repairs, renovations, violation removal, and project management. Our commitment to our core values—doing the right thing, responding quickly, maintaining a positive attitude, having a high attention to detail, and going above and beyond—sets us apart in the market.

Pops Upkeep's achievements are significant and varied, ranging from the removal of hundreds of HPD violations to an over 70% reduction in tenant complaints to property managers after we begin our services. Our emergency response times are exemplary, with teams arriving in under an hour. During Hurricane Ida, our rapid response team proved invaluable. We provided emergency water removal, performed urgent roof patching, and the very next day, we were on-site removing water-damaged materials and preventing mold growth in more than ten apartments. We even installed sump pumps and additional drainage systems in properties heavily damaged by the hurricane, saving property owners tens of thousands of dollars in damages.

Our primary customers are property management companies and building owners who benefit from our comprehensive solutions, transparent billing, and top-notch quality at an excellent cost. Pops Upkeep is also a certified mold remediation company and provides additional administrative services for managing all tenant communication related to property issues.

Looking towards the future, we aim to lead a tech revolution in property maintenance and management. We are currently developing a new software powered by Open AI's GPT-4 to automate preventive maintenance and enable predictive maintenance. The new technology will monitor building energy performance, advise on cleaning requirements, and assist in diagnosing building issues remotely—saving property owners precious time and resources.
